WHW Day 2

Our first day was the toughest on the West Highland Way. The 15 miles were harder than any on Hadrian's Wall because we were under a time constraint. The pathway crossed pretty colorful landscapes with ferns and bluebells and gorse.

And it was mostly close to the eastern shores of Loch Lomond.

But many parts I did not photograph beause I was too busy scrambling up and down rocky slopes that traversed the uneven terrain near the lake. The bridge above crosses into the Inversnaid Hotel and its nearby waterfall on Arldet Burn.

This is the first Bothy I have actually visited. It is solid and would be dry, but the floor is dirt and suggests to me night visits by hungry mice.

The Drovers Inn where we rushed to get a dinner table before they closed to drop-in hikers.

Rose Cottage Bed and Breakfast provided accommodations a short way from the Drovers Inn.
